Visit from Mom and Dad

My parents visited recently and I asked my dad to write out his impressions for our blog.  Here's what he had to say....

Lauretta and I had a wonderful time in our recent visit to see Jeremy, April and the boys on their new mission field in Mississauga, ON. We had attended a NAMB meeting in Chicago and rented a car to drive to Toronto. We drove across Michigan and Ontario and arrived in Mississauga. I had forgotten just how international the Toronto Area is from past days when Jeremy lived in Milton. However, Mississauga is even more so. Jeremy lives in a duplex in a new subdivision that is completely filled with international families. His boys share a back yard that for the present contain no fences. So the children run and play with each other in a park-like atmosphere. There were literally dozens of international children standing at the back door to play with Jeremy’s “kid-magnets” as he calls his boys. April is practically the mother of the block. She directs the traffic running through the house and provides occasional snacks, drinks, projects, etc. It was like being in a backyard Bible club every day. The children were from India, Pakistan, Columbia, etc. A lady dropped by from Romania and wanted to teach piano lessons. The world is literally coming to this place. Canada has opened their doors to the world and the world is responding by the thousands. Jeremy took me on a fascinating trip to downtown Mississauga and showed me the high-rise apartments that are rapidly being built. His vision is to begin a cell church movement in these apartments. He would like to rent a store front “mission center” nestled into the many little shops that line the streets of Mississauga. Jeremy told me that Toronto is the end of the “refugee highway.” People from the Middle East are fleeing persecution from Muslim and Hindu extremism. They have come to a new country and are open to learning English as well as the “customs” of North America which includes Christianity. This is an answer to much prayer for Jeremy. God has opened a door of opportunity to reach the peoples of the world right here in North America. They are literally at his doorstep. Jeremy is feeling better and seems to be recovering from his bout with parasites. He now finds himself in a rich, fertile mission field. All of this comes as an answer to many prayers on his behalf. Please continue to pray for Jeremy, April and their family. Consider a partnership with them and begin to plan a mission trip to the mostiInternational city in the world.
