January-February Update, 2012

Nepalese house church in Toronto

Please continue to pray for Joshua and his ministry among South Asians in Brampton.  Pray especially hard on Monday morning as he meets with NAMB personnel for an interview -- this will be the last step in the process for him to be a NAMB missionary.  Pray that everything goes well so he can get funding soon and move into full-time ministry again.  Pray also that the process for his family (wife and three kids) to come and live in Canada with him will also move along more quickly.  It's been a year and a half since he's seen them.  Continue to pray for the Iraqi family who have opened their home to us, as well as the Punjabi family.  Pray that these develop into churches.  Pray for more homes to open and for the Gospel to spread quickly through Brampton.  If your church is interested in partnering with Joshua and his ministry in any way, please let us know and we'll put you in touch with him.

Pray for the new Nepalese house church meeting in a high rise apartment building near downtown Toronto.  They are growing (pray that they multiply into several churches this year!) and are continuing to reach lost Nepalese refugees -- praise God!  Also, pray that we will reconnect soon with the other Nepalese churches in Ontario and Quebec.

Please pray for April and the pregnancy.  We had a scare this past week when she began to bleed pretty heavily.  We rushed her to the emergency room and then on into the delivery room, but praise God the bleeding stopped.  The vitals were all normal for the baby and the ultrasound showed that everything was fine, with the exception that the baby was now breach.  The doctors could not explain what caused the bleeding and why it stopped.  She was sent home with orders to stay off her feet as much as possible.  We still have no idea what happened -- we are both relieved that all seems well, but also a bit nervous  that it might happen again.  Please pray that the baby will be carried full term with no complications.  The due date is March 14th.

Pray for us as we will soon be moving to our new home in Brampton (about thirty minutes drive from where we are now).  We will begin to slowly move boxes to the new home beginning on February 26th and throughout the following week, and then the furniture on March 3rd.  Again, pray that the baby will not come during this time, and pray that April will stay off her feet and not be tempted to help pack/unpack, etc.  Pray that we will get plenty of help from friends during this time to make the transition as easy as possible.  Jeremy is already boxing up everything in our house ahead of time to make the move easier.

Some of you have asked about Jeremy's health.  There has been a lot of improvement.  There are still regular "flare ups" of pain, but nothing compared to before.  He still struggles with muscle spasms every day, but they're not painful and they don't hinder him from work.  Overall, we are praising God for the healing he's experienced and are hoping/praying it will continue.

Continue to pray for the new church plant in Brampton and the team surrounding Joshua (three men so far, but possibly soon a sponsor church as well).  Pray that the door will open for us at McMaster University to reach international students, as well as start seeds for new churches that will be affiliated with a network of churches called Hamilton Fellowships.  Pray for the children in our community that have been attending our after school Bible club.  We will probably return and continue this ministry via "backyard Bible clubs" in the park once the weather warms up a bit.

We appreciate your prayers!  Please let us know how to pray for you in return!
